Welcome to my new beer blog!
I’ll be posting about a different beer each Wednesday (sometimes delayed until Thursday) every week for the next year. 52 beers in 52 weeks. A year in beer, I guess.
This is the very first post, which will probably be evident. My hope is that by the end of the year my ability to relay my thoughts improves.
For the moment, I’ll call this “Craft Beer for the Average Joe.” Most of the beers I write about will be easy to find, at least?seasonally, and affordable ($7.00-$9.00 for a 6-pack is the target).
So, let’s get down to business with my first short review of Sierra Nevada “Celebration.”
What they say (Sierra Nevada Site, 21+ please):
“The long, cold nights of winter are a little brighter with Celebration??Ale. Wonderfully robust and rich, Celebration??Ale is dry-hopped?for?a lively,?intense aroma. Brewed especially for the holidays, it is perfect for a festive gathering or for a quiet evening at home.”?
My take on it:
Simply put, this is a good seasonal brew. It’s full-bodied and rich, as advertised. ?It pours nicely and the color is excellent. And at 6.8%, you can enjoy more than one without worrying!
I was surprised at how smooth it was, while at the same time maintaining the flavor of an actual beer. I’ve noticed that many of the winter beers are very fruity. While that’s good, sometimes a guy wants a beer. Celebration is brewed with whole cone American hops – the label says first of the growing season. That may be what results in the crisp, but smooth flavor.
At under $10.00 for a 6-pack, you can’t go wrong with this IPA. ?But get it soon…I’m told what’s left on the shelves is it until next year.
7 out of 10 from me.
