Shortly after Hurricane Irene, I drove to various areas of the state to view the rising waters left in her wake. The dam in front of the mill is usually much higher than what you see, with a steady, but calm flow and quiet waters in which fisherman enjoy bringing out their fly rods and waders to see what they can catch. On this day, the waters were several feet above normal and the river was raging.
